At the conclusion of their 8th grade school year, Bruce-Guadalupe Middle School graduates participate in an interactive five-week summer bridge program, instructed by middle school and pre-college department staff. Students in the program have the opportunity to further advance their reading, writing and public speaking skills through relevant class assignments and activities. In addition, they learn study habits and skills, time management, and decision making and conflict resolution strategies. College campus visits, high school/college student panel discussions and guest presentations by working professionals add to the richness of the course content.
At the conclusion of the five weeks, students feel better prepared to navigate their new academic environments and have a greater understanding of and appreciation for their long-term goals and plans.
