The Teen Outreach Program (TOP) is a national, evidence-based program that has increased academic success and prevented teen pregnancy among high school students for the past twenty years. With seed funding provided by the United Way Healthy Girls Initiative, UCC implemented the program in 2008 and has served approximately eighty-five 9th and 10th grade students.
Building on the goal-setting and prevention activities of the middle-school All-Stars program, TOP aims to decrease teen pregnancy by empowering students to define their futures. Through awareness and education of the way teen pregnancy hinders future opportunities, students are encouraged to set and pursue realistic goals, make educated and responsible decisions, and commit to volunteerism within their community as they transition to high school.
