Become a Volunteer!


You want to volunteer individually? Great! Here's how!

 

STEP 1. Complete the UCC Volunteer Application (PDF). Please fill out this information completely (application, volunteer/agency agreement, and two [2] background check forms), indicate the type of project you are interested in and return to UCC's Community Relations Coordinator attn: Barbara Cerda by email, fax (414-649-4411), mail, or in-person.

STEP 2. Sign up for ongoing volunteer needs (Indicate this on application):

  • Homework Help/tutoring: 3 - 5 p.m. | Monday – Thursday
  • Athletic Coaches: Seeking highly motivated coaches to help with our after-school sports programs, most sports ONLY run for 8 weeks and require a 3 to 4 hour commitment each week. Sports include volleyball, indoor soccer, basketball, flag football, and cross country.
  • FitForYes Program Mentors: We need program mentors to assist with fitness exercises and activities in classes are Monday through Thursday from 2:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This opportunity requires a commitment of at least 2 hours a week. 
  • Reader Leader: Beginning November 1st, 2018, we welcome volunteers to read to students in K-5 classrooms! Reading times are generally from 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. You are also welcome to propose a different time to come in. Feel free to bring your own books!
  • Adult Day Center: On occasion during the day

STEP 3. Sign up for a one time special event when available, please indicate this on event form. 

STEP 4. Return forms and paperwork to the UCC Volunteer Coordinator ASAP via email or by fax (414-649-4411). Please allow one week to process.

STEP 5. Watch the mandatory orientation video and do the quiz.

Part 2: Volunteer Project Information


Here's a snapshot of an average day at UCC:

  • Volunteers arrive and sign in
  • Brief tour and overview of the agency and the Latino Arts Gallery
  • 2 hour project with clients

Past projects include:

  • Holiday arts and crafts projects
  • Field trips
  • Game tournaments
  • Baking/cooking with clients
  • Beautifying a department
  • Career presentations for our students

Thanks for your interest in volunteering with UCC, please keep in mind with over 1,000 volunteers annually, it may take a few days or a week for us to get back to you. Help us to make the process as easy as possible by completing all the steps mentioned above and volunteering in the areas we need it most!
