Head Start Program

Early education in a welcoming environment.

Head Start is an early childhood education program that promotes school-readiness and enhances social and cognitive development. Head Start provides educational, health, nutritional, social, and other services to enrolled children and families.

UCC is deeply committed to your child’s education. Children will be welcomed with a supportive, loving environment and provided high quality educational instruction. Families must meet income and other eligibility requirements.

Early Head Start (6 weeks to 3 years)

Center-based Programming

At the UCC Early Learning Academy we provide early childhood education services for children six weeks to three years old.

Available services include:
  • Year-round programming Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Class sizes of 8 students per at least 2 teachers
  • A comprehensive approach to school readiness
  • Instruction promoting language and literacy development
  • Services to children with special needs
  • Nutritious meals and snacks daily
  • Free diapers, wipes, infant food & formula
  • Health screenings and behavioral health support
  • A Family Advocate Specialist assigned to your family to assist with needed support and community resources
  • Indoor and outdoor gym spaces
  • Dynamic family curriculum to assist your child’s development

Head Start (Age 3 to 5 years)

Center-based Programming

At Bruce-Guadalupe Community School we offer:
  • Programming Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Class sizes of 17 students per at least 2 teachers
  • A comprehensive approach to school readiness
  • Instruction promoting language and literacy development
  • Services to children with special needs
  • Nutritious meals and snacks daily
  • Health screenings and behavioral health support
  • A Family Advocate Specialist assigned to your family to assist with needed support and community resources
  • Indoor and outdoor gym spaces
  • Children’s library
  • Dynamic family curriculum to assist your child’s development
